It is strange how some people do not like to travel too far from home on their vacation while others like to travel as far as possible. No matter what your interest is with travel, there are always travel sites to help you out. Many people use the internet now to plan even complex travel plans, never seeing a travel agent. Gone are the days when travel agents were popular and sought after as websites have popped up everywhere and promise all of their customer’s extraordinary savings.
I know it is the norm now but I am not comfortable planning my once a year vacation like this. While this may be the way to book your holiday now, I still enjoy sitting front of a real person and not a computer screen. A travel agent will also fully expect changes to be made during the booking process and can be more flexible in their approach including when there are problems. It is difficult complaining to a travel site and almost impossible to actually speak to a real person, plus with today’s technology it is almost impossible to say where they are in the world.
If you do speak to someone, they may just tell you what you want to hear which is easy and what are the chances you will be able to find them? It is because of the number of things that can go wrong I still prefer to use my local travel agent even if it does take a little more time and there may be more to pay. Although I do know someone who waits for the last minute cancellations to come up on travel sites and books them every time, saving a good deal of money. Admittedly, she has save a small fortune this way as she will just look at the sites and be patient until the right vacation comes up at the right price.
It would be nice to do this but my career does not allow for impulsive travel arrangements. I don’t doubt for one minute that by using a travel site can be less expensive as you can also get discounts on tours and car hire by booking this way. There are many advantages to using a travel site to book your travel or even do your research and I do use websites when researching where I would like to travel to, and for getting my facts together. This way, if I book my vacation through my travel agent, should anything go wrong, I know I can go and complain in person.
